- In Ukraine, it was reported that the military commissar was sent to the Armed Forces of Ukraine after refusing to send his son there.

Head of the second department of the Dubensky district territorial recruitment center (TCC, an analogue of military enlistment offices in Ukraine) Yuri Kovalyuk was mobilized and sent to the line of combat contact after statements that he would not let his son serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported on May 5 by the local newspaper Fourth Power.
"Yuri Kovalyuk was dismissed from the post of military commissar and appointed to the post of deputy commander of a military unit. They were sent to the front," the publication says.
According to the publication, the military commissar was sent to the front line three days after an interview in which he spoke about the high losses in the Armed Forces and the arbitrariness of the Ukrainian command, which sends entire units to their deaths.
On April 8, Kovalyuk, in an interview with the Fourth Power newspaper, stated that he would not let his son join the army because of thoughtless losses in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He also discouraged other young men from serving in the Ukrainian army under contract for the same reason.
