Cybersecurity expert Alexey Rayevsky explained how to protect your data online and "clean up" your digital footprint.

In conversation with aif.ru On Monday, May 5, the specialist noted that it is impossible to completely eliminate the risks of leaks, even if basic precautions are followed. For example, there may be a leak from the provider, so it is better to provide him with only the minimum information necessary to register an account. It is better to leave the optional fields empty.

It is also important to follow the standard rules of digital hygiene. In particular, to register on the services, it is better to have a separate email address that is not used for correspondence, or even better, register several addresses and allocate one of them only for registration.

In addition, you should use different and complex passwords on all services, and enable two-factor authentication wherever possible.

Rayevsky stressed that currently almost all personal information about Russian citizens has already been leaked. Meanwhile, according to him. It would be useful to delete old accounts.

Separately, the specialist commented on cookies and browsing history.

"There are no fundamental risks, because all information is depersonalized and used only for advertising purposes," the expert explained.

Rayevsky also pointed out that open Wi-Fi networks are not as dangerous as is commonly believed. He explained that the protocols used in banking applications are initially designed to allow traffic to be intercepted. However, it is worth being careful about information transmitted to open network operators, such as a phone number.

On April 30, experts gave advice on how to securely store information and create passwords. For example, Maxim Pankov, a neurologist, called the associative method an effective way to remember passwords.

On April 28, cybersecurity lawyer Olga Popova warned that phone noises were a sign of surveillance. According to her, "if strange noises begin to appear, echoes during conversations or calls from unfamiliar numbers, where silence responds, this is a reason to be wary," reports 360.ru .

On April 24, Dmitry Semidotsky, in an interview with the Moscow City News agency, said that phishing is the most frequent type of cyber fraud in Moscow. Vishing, or voice phishing, is also one of the most dangerous types of cyber threats. It is based on using phone calls to deceive the victim in order to obtain confidential information.

Also in April, expert Evgeny Semenov called biometric protection of accounts on marketplaces effective. According to him, such a system protects the data of Russians on the Gosuslugi portal. It has proven its effectiveness, writes RT.

On March 30, Ekaterina Edemskaya, an analytical engineer, said that vulnerabilities in wireless headphones can turn them into a tool for surveillance, data theft, and even financial fraud. According to her, headphone models that work via Bluetooth using outdated or insufficiently reliable encryption algorithms can transmit data in a semi-open form. If an attacker has special equipment, he can intercept Bluetooth traffic, decrypt it and gain access to the user's personal information, NSN notes.

Also in March, Vladimir Ulyanov, a cybersecurity specialist, warned that fraudsters were increasingly using bots to steal funds from Russians. Ulyanov added that any incoming messages in messengers can be potentially dangerous, the website writes. kp.ru . To minimize the risk of account loss, it is recommended to use additional profile protection measures.
