There were 496 road accidents in Russia over the weekend.

Over the past weekend, on May 3-4, 496 road accidents occurred on Russian roads, in which 65 people were killed and 612 injured. 52 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on May 5 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
So, in the Trans—Baikal Territory, on 28 km of the Krasnokamensk - Dosatui regional highway, a 31-year-old motorcyclist drove onto a regulated railway crossing at a forbidding traffic light and collided with an electric train locomotive. The motorcycle driver died. He had not previously been issued a driver's license, and his vehicle was not registered in accordance with the established procedure.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded motorcyclists and motorists of the importance of observing the rules of passage of railway crossings, since this maneuver is considered dangerous and requires the driver to concentrate and pay maximum attention. Accident analysis shows that such accidents most often occur at unregulated crossings, where drivers, not convinced of the safety of the maneuver, try to drive in front of a nearby train. In the traffic regulations, there is a direct ban on leaving the railway track outside the crossing. The maneuver is impossible when the barrier is closed or closing, or when the traffic light or crossing attendant is forbidding.
Stopping or parking a vehicle at a railway crossing is also prohibited, as it poses a real threat of collision with a train. If this happens in an emergency, for example, when a car breaks down, the driver must disembark the passengers, remove them to a safe distance and take measures to free the crossing (tow or push the car off the rails). A driver moving through a railway crossing should be careful at night, as well as in adverse weather conditions and limited visibility, the department noted.
Last weekend, 21 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which three people were killed, and 29 more road users, including four children, needed medical help. Seven bus accidents were caused by traffic violations by their drivers.
So, in the Perm Region, in the early morning on 141 km of the federal highway R-243 Kostroma — Sharya — Kirov — Perm, a tourist bus driver with 28 passengers in the cabin made an exit from the road and then overturned. As a result of the accident, two bus passengers were hospitalized with injuries, and two more minor passengers (girls born in 2011 and 2013) were sent for outpatient treatment after receiving medical care. Eight passengers of the bus received one-time medical care.
As a result of 96 accidents, 25 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 71 outside their area of operation, 13 pedestrians were killed, 86 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 21 pedestrian children, 15 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.
In addition, 73 accidents involving minors were registered on the roads of the Russian Federation over the weekend, as a result of which 80 young road users were injured, including 36 passengers, seven cyclists and 15 motor transport drivers. Two children were killed: a cyclist and a pedestrian.
In the city of Guy, Orenburg region, a truck driver ran over a 14-year-old cyclist at an unregulated intersection, who drove off a secondary road onto the main road in front of the truck. The young cyclist died.
In the Chelyabinsk region, on 2 km of the regional highway Roshchino — FAD M-5 Ural "entrance to Yekaterinburg", a passenger car driver ran over an 11-year-old schoolgirl who was moving along the right shoulder in the same direction as him and suddenly began to cross the roadway in front of a nearby vehicle. At the same time, there was no organized pedestrian crossing in the visible area. As a result of the accident, the girl died.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists to observe traffic regulations and be more careful on the roads of settlements and cities. Special care should be taken when approaching pedestrian crossings, slowing down in front of them until they come to a complete stop in order to allow pedestrians to pass. The behavior of children on the road is often unpredictable, so you should not rush to resume traffic, even at a clear traffic light.
"We remind parents to monitor the leisure time and behavior of their young children. Do not let them go outside alone, unattended, especially in the evening. Always accompany them during walks, trips to educational classes in clubs and sports sections. To improve the visibility of young pedestrians to drivers of vehicles, be sure to use retroreflective elements on children's outerwear. The lack of parental control over the behavior and leisure of preschool and primary school—age children often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.
Earlier that day, it was reported that the State Duma proposed prescribing warnings for drivers about the inadmissibility of driving cars after taking such drugs in the instructions for the use of medicines containing narcotic or psychotropic substances.
