Vladivostok resident to be convicted of smuggling 6 tons of scallops

The materials of the criminal case against a 50-year-old resident of Vladivostok, who is accused of attempting to smuggle a large shipment of seafood, have been submitted to the court. The case was initiated under the article on the illegal movement of strategically important resources across the border.
According to the press service of the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor's Office, the investigation revealed that in July 2024, the financial director of a company engaged in foreign economic activity tried to illegally export more than 6 tons of scallops worth about 4 million rubles. At customs, he presented forged documents that were issued for another batch of goods.
The cargo was transported through the Poltava checkpoint. The smuggling attempt was stopped by the staff of the Ussuri customs.
Earlier it was reported that a large seafood smuggling scheme was revealed in Primorsky Krai. During an inspection by the prosecutor's office, it turned out that two companies from Vladivostok underestimated the cost of live crab, which was exported to Asian countries. More than 320 tons of illegally exported crab were found. Due to the underestimation of the cost, customs payments in the amount of 9.7 million rubles were underpaid.
