Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Kherson region have stopped the illegal activities of a local resident suspected of publicly justifying terrorism and actions against the security of the Russian Federation. This was reported on May 5 in the press service of the department.

"It has been established that the person involved in the foreign Internet messenger Telegram posted comments aimed at justifying the activities of a number of terrorist organizations banned on the territory of the Russian Federation," the report says.

According to the agency, based on the collected materials, the investigative department of the FSB opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls to carry out terrorist activities or public justification of terrorism").

Operational search measures are currently being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the crime, as well as to identify possible accomplices of the suspect.

On April 29, a man was detained in St. Petersburg for publicly justifying terrorism. In March 2024, a 23-year-old local resident posted a number of comments on the Telegram messenger in support of the activities of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), a terrorist organization banned in Russia.
