Sevastopol refused to hold a parade on May 9 for security reasons.


There are no plans to hold a Victory Day parade in Sevastopol due to security concerns. This was announced on May 5 by the mayor Mikhail Razvozhaev at a staff meeting in the city government.
"For obvious reasons, we will not publish schedules [of festive events]. The parade [in honor of the anniversary] There will be no victory [in Sevastopol] this year, this position has been agreed with the Ministry of Defense," TASS quoted him as saying.
The governor also recalled that the Immortal Regiment campaign will be held in the city in a remote format. In addition to it, other events are planned to be held in the city in honor of Victory Day, including festive concerts.
The main parade of the country dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory will traditionally take place in Moscow on Red Square. A number of foreign leaders will join the event, including President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and President of Brazil Lulu da Silva.
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the high-level representation of many countries at the Victory Day Parade in Moscow indicates that they share the importance of the May 9 holiday. He also believes that Russia has not just allies, but states that are close in spirit and ideology.
