The FSB showed footage of the detention of accomplices of telephone fraudsters

The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia showed a video of the detention of members of a criminal community who helped ensure the operation of fraudulent call centers by sending false messages about the threat of terrorist attacks. 10 Russians were detained on May 5.

According to the intelligence officers, the caught individuals monitored the operation of the SIM boxes, with which the scammers called and sent false messages en masse, intending to cause panic. Similar SIM boxes can be used by the special services of Ukraine to organize terrorist attacks on the territory of the Russian Federation, the FSB noted.

The footage shows confiscated SIM boxes installed in the trunk of a car, as well as being transported in a sports bag and a yellow courier bag of an alleged food deliverer. One of the detained men reported that he agreed to participate in the activities of the scammers, as he was offered to "make good money." At the same time, he knew that we were talking about a call center.

How fake video and voice messages are created

The detention of members of the criminal community was reported earlier on May 5. During searches in different regions of the Russian Federation, mobile phones, 23 SIM boxes, more than 1,000 SIM cards, money and electronic devices with information were seized. The defendants will also be checked for involvement in fraud on a particularly large scale. Criminal cases are being investigated under Parts 1 and 2 of Articles 210 of the Criminal Code ("Creation and participation in a criminal community") and Part 5 of Articles 33, Part 3 of Articles 207 of the Criminal Code ("Complicity in knowingly false reporting of an act of terrorism").

According to the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia, the criminal community was created by a Russian born in 1993 while abroad. He is on the international wanted list. According to available information, the man lives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He was charged in absentia and a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen.
