US President Donald Trump told reporters that he plans to appoint a new national security adviser within the next six months. His words were broadcast on Fox News channel on May 5.

"He (Stephen Miller. — Ed.) indirectly already has this job (National Security Adviser to the President of the United States. — Ed.) <...> because he has a lot to say about many things. Stephen Miller is a very valuable person in the administration," Trump replied when asked if Miller, Trump's deputy chief of staff and homeland security adviser, was the main candidate for the position.

According to the American leader, Michael Waltz did not make any mistakes as National Security Adviser to the President of the United States, and will cope with the tasks as ambassador to the United Nations.

"I didn't lose interest in him (Michael Waltz. — Ed.) trust. He's going to the UN for a reason," Trump added.

Earlier, on May 1, the media announced that Waltz had left the post of National Security Adviser to the President of the United States. It was reported that over the past three months, Waltz has become a frequent target of criticism from Trump's opponents due to his role in the scandal involving the addition of The Atlantic's editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg to a closed government chat discussing strikes on Yemen. Then Trump's adviser took full responsibility for inviting the journalist.
