Companies from China, in order to avoid the high duties imposed by US President Donald Trump, ship their goods through third countries. The Financial Times (FT) newspaper wrote about this on May 4.

According to her, Chinese exporters ship their goods through third countries in order to "hide their true origin" and avoid the duties imposed by Trump.

Jordan and Vietnam are primarily such "hubs" for Chinese goods, the newspaper points out. This method changes the country of origin, helping to maintain market access, but is criticized for circumventing trade laws, FT points out.

This is a common trade strategy, the newspaper explained, driven by economic necessity, but it is fraught with escalating trade tensions, harming third countries and increasing the cost of goods for American consumers.

Earlier in the day, Trump announced his intention to reduce duties on goods from China. According to the President of the United States, China's economy is collapsing because of the tariffs he has imposed.

On May 2, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China reported that China is considering starting trade negotiations with the United States.

On April 27, the American leader said that the United States could conclude trade agreements with all countries, including China and the European Union, but only on fair terms for Washington.
