The capital's non-profit organizations (NPOs) play an important role in preserving the memory of the events and heroes of the Great Patriotic War (WWII), including helping to popularize history by organizing quests, excursions, lectures and other events. This was announced on May 5 on the official website of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

"Realizing the importance of such work, the city tries in every possible way to support the patriotic initiatives of NGOs, including through grants. Last year, 55 projects won the competition for grants from the Mayor of Moscow in the Our Heritage nomination," the article says.

For example, the National Parent Association for Social Support of the Family and Protection of Family Values has prepared a major quest "Heroic Streets of Moscow" in the format of a walk for the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The initiative tells about the history of monuments, streets and squares of the city, which were named after the events of the Second World War. Moreover, the quest involves teamwork, and the participants themselves receive tasks by e-mail. You can participate in the project until May 31.

In turn, the Institute of Labor Relations and Civil Society won the competition thanks to the Moscow Memory Card project, dedicated to preserving the memory of employees of the capital's enterprises who participated in the war. The project team searches for information about employees and creates an interactive online map with monuments dedicated to them.

The NGO Heirs of the Winners team also plans to create a series of 10 lectures in the video interview format called "The Historical Front: Our Victory." It is noted that the main theme will be the victory of the Soviet army and people in the fight against fascism. In addition to recording and editing, the team plans to allocate grant funds for the development of manuals with the main theses. The lecturers will be leading experts from the Faculty of Moscow State University, the Prince Alexander Nevsky Military University of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, as well as well-known historians, television journalists, and descendants of military dynasties.

The NGO's initiatives are aimed at preserving historical heritage, as well as developing cultural and spiritual values, and countering attempts to falsify historical events. The relevant events are free of charge and can be attended by anyone, but some require pre-registration.

On April 17, it became known that the Moscow public organization collects and delivers humanitarian aid to soldiers of the special military operation (SVO), conducts patriotic events in educational institutions, and involves veterans of military operations in the cultural life of the city. Among other things, organizations organize events for the treatment and socialization of military personnel, visiting them together with volunteers.
