Pushkov pointed to Germany's path to self-destruction due to a possible ban on AFD

The attacks on the German Alternative for Germany (AfD) party are a sign of the beginning of the self-destruction of the state. This was announced on May 4 by Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov in the Telegram channel.
He noted that 48% of Germans surveyed consider the party's program to be right-wing extremist.
"Thus, these 48% are actively involved in what the German Social Democrat Tillo Saracin called the "self-destruction of Germany." More than 90 years ago, the overwhelming majority of Germans supported [Adolf] Hitler — and supported him to the very end," the senator wrote.
He stressed that the main point of the AfD program is the resolute fight against migration, which has become the most acute problem for the state.
"Now Germany has embarked on the path of slow but steady self—destruction 2.0. Moreover, even Tillo Saracin, prepared for the worst, recently stated with surprise that this process is unfolding much faster than he expected," concluded Pushkov.
An Insa institute poll for the Bild newspaper, published on May 4, showed that almost two-thirds of German citizens consider the Alternative for Germany party to be right-wing extremist. In turn, 31% of citizens disagree with the wording, and another 8% could not give an unambiguous answer. 37% of respondents opposed the AFD ban, 8% found it difficult to answer, and 7% showed indifference to the fate of the party.
Earlier, on May 2, it was reported that the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution of Germany classified the AfD as a right-wing extremist organization threatening democracy in the country. According to the authorities, this step reduces the obstacles to monitoring the party with the help of special services and allows for better control of its activities.
