A resident of Wisconsin, who disappeared in July 1962, was found "alive and well" in 2025. This was announced on May 4 in a press release from the Soke County Sheriff's Office in Wisconsin.

"The sheriff's office can now announce that Audrey Bakeberg is alive and well, and currently resides out of state. Further investigation revealed that Ms. Bakeberg's disappearance occurred by her own choice, and not as a result of any criminal activity or malicious intent," the publication says.

The woman was 20 years old at the time of her disappearance. She lived in the city of Reedsburg.

The Guardian newspaper clarifies that the woman decided to run away on her own, tired of violence from her husband. Shortly before that, she filed a lawsuit against her husband, accusing him of beatings and death threats.

For privacy reasons, the name of the state in which Bakeberg was found is not disclosed.

"The Sheriff's Office would like to express its appreciation to the investigators, both past and present. Despite the significant challenges posed by many unsolved cases, this resolution underscores both the importance of continuing to work and the sheriff's office's dedication to providing answers to families and the community," law enforcement officials said.

On April 6, three adults and a child went missing after fishing on Lake Yekishavad in the Ust-Kulomsky district of the Komi Republic. According to representatives of the investigative committee, during the search activities, a snowmobile trail was found to the shore of the lake and things floating in the water.
