The missile launched from Yemen and hitting the Ben Gurion Airport in Israel was not shot down due to a technical problem with the interceptor missile. This was announced on May 4 by the press service of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the Telegram channel.

"Initial findings did not reveal any malfunctions in the detection procedure, interception systems, or notification mechanisms of the home front command. According to the assessment, the probable cause was a technical problem with an interceptor launched in the direction of the missile," the ministry said.

It is clarified that since the escalation in the region, the Israeli army has intercepted "dozens" of missiles fired from Yemen, and the success rate has always been more than 95%.

Earlier that day, Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv was closed for takeoffs and landings of aircraft due to falling debris after an attempt by Israeli troops to intercept a missile from Yemen. Against the background of the incident, many people began to panic. Izvestia published footage from the scene.
