Ukraine may receive the Patriot air defense system, which was previously based in Israel, as well as several other installations from other countries. This was reported on May 4 by the New York Times (NYT) newspaper, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, the Israeli system is planned to be provided to the Ukrainian side by the summer of this year after its repair. Kiev's Western allies are also discussing the logistics of supplying another system from Germany or Greece.

"Four current and former U.S. officials have stated that the Patriot air defense system, based in Israel, will be sent to Ukraine after its restoration, and Western allies are discussing logistics for the supply of another system from Germany or Greece," the material says.

However, it clarifies that any Patriot shipments require U.S. approval, even if they are transferred through other countries. At the same time, Ukraine currently has only six of the eight air defense systems in working order, and at least two installations are under repair.

On April 28, the Kathimerini newspaper reported that the United States was demanding that the Greek authorities transfer Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, which had previously been sent to Saudi Arabia. It was noted that such a decision by the American side was based on the fact that responsibility for armament was now passing into the hands of European countries, as the United States had reduced support for Kiev.
