The President of Cuba arrived in Russia to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel arrived in Russia to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported on May 4 in the press service of the administration of St. Petersburg.

They noted that Governor Alexander Beglov met the Cuban leader at Pulkovo Airport. In honor of Diaz-Canel's visit, the anthems of the Russian Federation and Cuba were performed.

"It is very important for us that your visit starts from our city. The feat of besieging Leningrad has no equal in world history. The city survived thanks to the courage of the defenders, representatives of different nationalities. There were Cuban patriots among them," Beglov said.

He thanked the Cuban President for participating in the wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial to the Soviet internationalist soldier in a Havana suburb and stressed that Diaz-Canel's visit is a symbol of the unbreakable friendship between the two states.

It is specified that during the visit, the Cuban leader and the governor of St. Petersburg will discuss the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the economic, cultural and educational spheres.

In addition, Diaz-Canel will take part in events dedicated to the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the states, the administration's Telegram channel concluded.
