A forest fire on 13 thousand hectares was extinguished in Transbaikalia

In the Trans-Baikal Territory, it was possible to eliminate a forest fire on an area of 13 thousand hectares. This was announced on May 4 by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the region.

"Forest firefighters managed to eliminate a large forest fire in the Chernyshevsky district in the most severe conditions of wind load and dry weather. The fire covered 13 thousand hectares," RIA Novosti quoted the agency as saying.

It is specified that the fire threatened the village of Zhireken, and 50 employees of the local department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were sent to protect the settlement. As a result, firefighters extinguished the fire. At the moment, there are no forest fires in the area.

At the same time, according to the press service of the federal Aviation Environmental Protection Agency, the geography of intense man-made forest fires has expanded in the Trans-Baikal Territory, fires are "moving" from the north to the south of the region.

"At the moment, intense fires have moved from the north to the south towards the Khiloksky district. On May 4, three of the most intense fires were observed in the Trans-Baikal Territory, located in the Tungokochensk, Karymsky and Khiloksky districts. All the foci are large. The fire in the Khiloksky district arose as a result of the transfer of dry grass from agricultural land to the forest fund," the department's Telegram channel says.

A state of emergency has been introduced in three regions.

On April 28, it was reported that investigators in Transbaikalia had opened three criminal cases of negligence that led to the development of forest fires. Later, law enforcement agencies detained a suspect in an arson attack that burned down 100 hectares of forest in the Trans-Baikal Territory.

On April 7, the Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory, Alexander Osipov, declared an emergency regime in the region due to forest fires. According to him, almost all fires in forests since the beginning of the year have been caused by humans.
