Slovakia told about the refusal of EU leaders to come to Kiev on May 9th

None of the leaders of the European Union (EU) countries is going to Kiev for events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory. This was announced on May 4 by the Deputy Speaker of the Slovak Parliament, Tibor Gaspar.
"It seems to me that none of the leaders of the EU countries will come there [to Kiev]," he told TASS.
According to him, this is related to the negotiations between Russia and the United States. EU leaders do not want to show their support for both sides, as this is "an unsuccessful tactic from a political point of view."
"I hope that common sense will be shown in Ukraine, and they will also celebrate the victory over fascism, although I am not completely sure of this," Gaspar summed up.
On April 15, Politico reported that the Ukrainian authorities had sent invitations to European leaders and senior officials to visit Kiev on May 9 to demonstrate "diplomatic unity" and distract attention from the Moscow parade marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
