Poland owes its liberation from German occupation to the USSR during the Second World War. This was announced on May 4 by Myśl Polska.

"Poland owes the Soviet Union its liberation from the German occupation, which became the greatest tragedy of the Polish people in history <...> During the German occupation, Poles were despised, deported to death camps and killed daily," the publication says.

According to the media, Poland's ungrateful foreign policy towards the USSR may have negative consequences in the future. Warsaw may still need Moscow's help in connection with the strengthening of Ukrainian and German nationalism.

According to the newspaper, to show gratitude, it is only necessary to show respect for the values that are important to other people. In this case, for the citizens of the Russian Federation, it is the memory of the feat of military personnel during the Great Patriotic War.

"We must remember the benefits we have received and be grateful for them, so that, in accordance with the letter of the signed Agreement, we can build relations with Russia in the spirit of good-neighborly partnership, equality, trust and mutual respect, which can bear fruit in the future," the publication concluded.

Earlier, on April 8, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that attempts were being made in the West to belittle the role of the USSR in winning World War II and justify the crimes of the Nazis.
