Russian Kuzminova wins the World Youth Weightlifting Championship

On May 4, Russian weightlifter Varvara Kuzminova won the World Youth Weightlifting Championship in Peru with a world record.

Kuzminova was able to win among athletes under 17 years of age in the weight category up to 76 kg. At these competitions, she set a world record for the overall result, lifting 235 kg. She showed good results in the snatch (108 kg) and clean and jerk (127 kg).

Kuzminova is a Russian Master of Sports, as well as a two-time silver medalist at the 2023 and 2024 Russian Championships.

The World Youth Championship will end on May 5, and Russian athletes will compete in the tournament in a neutral status.

On April 17, Russian Zarina Gusalova won silver at the European Weightlifting Championships in Chisinau in the weight category up to 71 kg on April 17. According to the sum of two exercises, the 20-year-old athlete gained 241 kg.
