- The Trump administration has filed a lawsuit against the authorities of the state of Colorado

The administration of US President Donald Trump has sued the authorities of the state of Colorado and its capital, Denver. This was reported by The New York Times on Saturday, May 3.
On Friday, the Trump administration sued Colorado and Denver, accusing the state, city and their leaders of obstructing federal immigration actions. This is another salvo in the White House's struggle to force local authorities to facilitate deportations," the publication says.
The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Colorado and included Governor Jared Polis and Denver Mayor Mike Johnston as defendants. According to the NYT, the lawsuit challenges state and city laws that restrict or prohibit cooperation with federal agencies.
"This lawsuit is intended to put an end to this pernicious policy and restore the supremacy of federal immigration law," the newspaper quoted the document as saying.
The mayor of Denver spoke to the newspaper and stressed that immigration laws are respected in the city. At the same time, he also stated that places such as hospitals, schools and courthouses should remain outside immigration policy.
Johnston stressed that migrants, in his opinion, do not pose a danger at the moment.
"We know that we don't have thousands of illegal individuals with violent criminal records. This is a myth that we have been told," he said.
Earlier, on May 3, Trump wrote on the Truth Social network that if the courts in the United States refuse to assist the government in deporting migrants, then the country in its current form has come to an end.
