The doctor talked about effective ways to use an irrigator.

An irrigator is a device designed to effectively clean hard—to-reach areas of the oral cavity using a directed jet of water. Dentists recommend it as an important addition to traditional brushing and flossing. This was announced on Sunday, May 4, by a dental surgeon, chief physician of the Russian Dental Implantation Center dental clinic network, Sabit Aliyev, in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».
According to the expert, the irrigator is especially useful for people with braces, dental bridges, hypersensitivity of the gums or diabetes, as well as those who require increased hygiene due to the complex structure of the dentition, for example, in the presence of voids after teeth extraction.
The specialist noted that the device not only removes food residues from the interdental spaces and other hard-to-reach places, but also improves the condition of the gums through hydro massage, reducing the risk of periodontitis and gingivitis. Regular use of an irrigator helps to eliminate bacterial plaque from the surface of teeth and tongue, which promotes fresh breathing and reduces bleeding, Aliyev explained.
However, as the dentist pointed out, many people purchase an irrigator and become disillusioned with it without understanding the rules of use.
So, to achieve the optimal effect, you should use water at room temperature or a special mouthwash. The doctor called for starting cleaning with minimal pressure, gradually increasing it as you get used to it. The angle of the nozzle plays a key role: for cleaning the dental surface, it is held at 90 degrees, and for gum treatment — at 45 degrees, Aliyev warned. Each tooth must be cleaned separately, paying special attention to the posterior molars. The expert explained that the procedure should take no more than three or five minutes, after which the nozzle should be thoroughly rinsed.
In conclusion, Aliyev called for avoiding cheap irrigation models that lack precise pressure control and do not use microbubble technology. The best choice is proven brands with a reliable reputation, the dentist added.
Earlier, on April 27, Irina Fomina, an orthodontist and clinical director of REVIXAN, dispelled common myths about wearing braces in an interview with Izvestia. She stressed that Russian dentistry is among the best in the world today, so you should not trust frightening stories from the Internet. Mild discomfort in the first days after braces are installed is a normal reaction of the body to the movement of teeth, the doctor said.
