American billionaire Warren Buffett intends to leave the post of head of Berkshire Hathaway. He made a corresponding statement on May 3 on CNBC.

He specified that Greg Abel, the holding's vice president, would be appointed as the new head.

"I think the time will come for Greg to lead the company at the end of the year. I will inform the board of directors about this and accompany it with my recommendation, I will give them time to think about everything, <... and at the next meeting in a few months, we will make a decision in accordance with the opinion of the 11 directors. I think they will all unanimously support this proposal. That means Greg will become CEO of Berkshire Hathaway at the end of the year," he said.

At the same time, the investor stressed that he would continue to be interested in the state of affairs in the company and would try to "be useful" to the business.

Earlier, on May 16, Buffett got rid of shares of TSMC, the largest semiconductor manufacturer. It is noted that he has repeatedly expressed concern about the situation in Taiwan, where TSMC is located. The entrepreneur also stated that he is more optimistic about his investments in Japan.
