- Portugal has announced the expulsion of 18,000 foreigners illegally residing in the country.

The Portuguese Interim government intends to expel about 18,000 foreigners living in the country without legal grounds. This was reported on May 3 by the Associated Press (AP).
"[Minister Delegate to the Government] Antonio Leitan Amaru said that the centrist right—wing government will send about 18,000 notifications to people who are in the country illegally about the need to leave the country," the publication says.
It is specified that the implementation of the initiative will begin next week. The first stage of the program will be sending approximately 4.5 thousand foreigners a request to voluntarily leave the country.
Earlier, on April 25, the Reuters news agency learned about the suspension of UN refugee support programs in Ukraine. It is clarified that other Western countries that previously participated in the financing have reduced their costs, giving preference to defense costs.
Andreas Breitner, director of the Association of Housing Companies of Northern Germany (VNW), said on March 5 that Germany expects a new mass flow of Ukrainian refugees in connection with the decision of the administration of US President Donald Trump to stop military aid to Kiev. According to him, most of the refugees will come to the north of Germany, since the Ukrainian diaspora has already formed there in three years.
