American Walsh broke the world record for swimming in the 100 m butterfly

On May 3, American Gretchen Walsh set a world record for swimming in the 100 m butterfly.

The athlete updated her own world record at the Pro Swim Series tournament in Fort Lauderdale (USA), showing a result of 55.09 seconds. Prior to that, the record was 55.18 seconds, which Walsh set last year.

Gretchen Walsh is 22 years old, she is a two-time champion and two-time silver medalist of the Olympic Games in Paris, as well as the 2023 world champion, Sport-Express clarifies.

Earlier, on April 12, German athlete Lukas Mertens set a new world record in 400 m freestyle swimming. He showed the result in 3 minutes 39.96 seconds.
