Ankara has closed its airspace to Israeli aircraft, which excludes the possibility of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's flight in the skies over Turkey. This was announced on May 3 at the center for combating disinformation at the Communications Department of the Turkish presidential administration.

"The allegations that the Israeli Prime Minister's plane was given permission to fly are absolutely untrue. We have not received any request about this. <... > The opening of Turkish airspace for the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Azerbaijan on May 7 is, of course, out of the question," the organization's representatives wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

It is noted that the decision to close the airspace for Israeli aircraft was made in response to the country's policy towards the Gaza Strip.

Turkey continues to defend the rights of the Palestinian people and calls on the international community not to believe unfounded allegations, the center for Combating Disinformation said in a statement.

Netanyahu plans to visit Baku on May 7-11.

Last November, Turkey similarly refused to allow Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog's plane to pass through its airspace to fly to Azerbaijan.
