New checks on the use of the state language have begun in Ukrainian schools.

New checks on the use of the state language have been conducted in Ukrainian schools since April 28. This was announced on May 3 by the Language Ombudsman of Ukraine Taras Kremen.
He noted that the educational process includes all types of activities taking place on the territory of the educational institution, therefore, the Ukrainian language should be used not only in lessons.
"The Ukrainian language should be spoken <...> at recess, at parent-teacher conferences, in the library, gym and bomb shelter. He should be everywhere," the Ukrainian newspaper Strana reports the words of the Ombudsman.ua" in the Telegram channel.
On February 8, it was reported that Kremen was outraged by the use of the Russian language at government meetings. According to recordings of the planning meetings of 50 local councils in ten regions of Ukraine, Russian was spoken in 24% of them.
On January 28, Ukrainian political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko stated that young people in the country began to speak Russian predominantly, especially in large cities. He argues that the active promotion of Ukrainian paradoxically contributes to the strengthening of Russian in Ukraine in the long term.
