You can't fight a hangover with alcohol. The use of alcoholic beverages as a "medicine" is a dangerous myth, as as a result, the body undergoes a new attack. On May 3, Anna Bunova, a researcher at the Department of Primary Prevention of Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases in the healthcare system of the National Research Medical Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia.

"Alcohol poses a threat to health in any doses and there is no "safe" level of its consumption. Even small amounts have a toxic effect on the body, and regular consumption leads to the risk of developing many chronic diseases and addictions," the specialist noted.

Nevertheless, if intoxication has already occurred, then it is necessary to minimize the harm. Also, in this case, it is important to know what cannot be done to restore. For example, a person will not feel better after drinking a cup of coffee, as it has a diuretic effect, increases dehydration, and its use can only worsen the symptoms of a hangover.

If you have a hangover, you should not use drugs with acetylsalicylic acid, analgesics containing paracetamol, as they additionally burden the already weakened liver. Industrial marinades containing vinegar, including brine, also worsen the condition of the stomach.

If you have a hangover headache, warm sweet tea with lemon and peace will help. It is not necessary to restrain vomiting, the body's natural mechanism aimed at eliminating toxins. Artificial suppression will slow down the cleansing of the body, which will lead to intoxication.

Earlier, on April 30, Elizaveta Skorodumova, a cardiologist at the I.I. Dzhanelidze Neurological Research Institute of Emergency Medicine, spoke about signs of malaise that were completely incompatible with alcohol. According to her, if a person has signs such as jaundice of the skin and eyes, pain in the right hypochondrium, swelling, fatigue, nausea, then this may indicate liver problems. In such cases, alcohol is strictly contraindicated.
