Lawyers of the AFD party sent a warning to the German counterintelligence

Lawyers for the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party have sent a warning to the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Counterintelligence) of Germany after recognizing the faction as a right-wing extremist organization. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on May 3.
They noted that the lawyers called the agency's decision illegal and demanded that the counterintelligence withdraw it no later than May 5. Otherwise, lawyers will advise the party leadership to file a lawsuit.
"We must ask you, on behalf of our client, to stop the actions described above (and refrain from them in the future), delete the relevant messages and instead publish the relevant messages with corrections," the document says.
The day before, it was reported that the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution of Germany classified the AfD as a right-wing extremist organization threatening democracy in the country. According to the authorities, this step reduces the obstacles to monitoring the party with the help of special services and allows for better control of its activities.
At the same time, Acting German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the decision to ban AfG should not be taken hastily.
