At least six people were killed and 50 others were injured in a stampede during a religious procession in the Indian state of Goa. This was announced on May 3 by NDTV.

"At least six people were killed and more than 50 seriously injured in a stampede that broke out during the annual Lairai Devi Jatra procession at the Shirgao temple in [the state] Goa," the article says.

It is specified that the panic suddenly spread right during the religious procession.

"I am personally monitoring the situation to ensure that all necessary measures are taken," Goa Minister Pramod Sawant wrote on the social network X (Ex. Twitter).

According to the preliminary version, the tragedy occurred due to the lack of measures to control a large crowd at the event.

In January, at least 15 people were killed in a stampede at the Kumbha Mela religious festival in the Indian city of Prayagraj. It is reported that many injured visitors were hospitalized at the religious festival. However, some of them are in serious condition.
