In Britain, a UN judge was sentenced to imprisonment for forced slave labor

In the UK, United Nations (UN) judge Lydia Mugamba was sentenced to six years and four months in prison for forcing a compatriot to slave labor. This was announced on Friday, May 2, according to The Guardian.
"According to prosecutors, Mugambe, who is also a judge of the Ugandan Supreme Court, deprived the woman of a permanent job and forced her to work for free as her maid and take care of the children," the material says.
Judge Foxton, who handed down the sentence at Oxford Crown Court, said it was a "very sad case". At the same time, the court highlighted Mugamba's legal achievements, including his work to protect human rights.
The defendant "showed absolutely no remorse" and tried to blame the victim for what happened. Mugambe resigned as a UN judge.
Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump proposed suspending most US contributions to UN structures. It is specified that these measures are proposed in accordance with the presidential decree on the review of support for international organizations.
