The administration of the Kursk region on Friday, May 2, warned about a new fraudulent scheme with fake news in messengers about the allocation of additional financial assistance to residents of the Kursk, Belgorod, Bryansk, and Voronezh regions.

"We urge all Kuryans not to fall for the tricks of scammers and in no case share personal data with scammers, especially copies of documents," reads a statement on the Telegram channel of the administration of the Kursk region.

The attackers offer people to register in a special bot to receive payments and send documents there, including a copy of their passport, the administration said. They also called on the victims to search for information about payments in official sources of information.

Earlier, on April 29, experts from F6 (a developer of technologies to combat cybercrime) told Izvestia that the attackers had come up with a new fraud scenario on the eve of Victory Day, which uses the brand of the Defenders of the Fatherland state fund. So, they created websites that posted false messages about the launch of a "social project" with an offer to earn up to 30 million rubles "using the resources and capabilities of Russia."
