Uzbekistan expects Russia to help prevent a large-scale ecological disaster in the Aral Sea region, the republic's Deputy Ecology Minister Iskandar Kutbiddinov told Izvestia.

"The participation of Russian specialists in the fight against drought in the Aral Sea region and ecosystem rehabilitation projects is being discussed," the deputy minister said.
