In Bulgaria, unknown persons committed an act of vandalism against a monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. This was announced on Friday, May 2, by the leader of the Bulgarian political party "Renaissance" Kostadin Kostadinov.

The vandals targeted a monument to Bulgarian underground fighters and Soviet submariners, the crew of the Shch-211 boat in the Kamchia area.

"Unfortunately, this is not the first time such an attack on an anti—fascist monument has been carried out, I believe that such attacks are carried out by the same citizens," Kostadinov told TASS.

According to the politician, the police do not respond to such cases. Activists of the Renaissance party will restore the monument to "relative order" in the coming days, the agency's interlocutor added.

Snezhana Todorova, Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists, also noted that the lack of action on the part of the authorities indicates Bulgaria's attitude to history.

"It is a pity that in our country they are trying to overshadow the bright Victory Day," Todorova admitted.

Earlier, on May 1, it was reported that the exhumation of the remains of Soviet soldiers began in Lviv on the "Hill of Glory". The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in turn, in an interview with Izvestia, said that this incident speaks to the immoral nature of the Kiev regime and its Western curators.
