- An expert from Germany, Beck, commented on the exhibition in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in Berlin.

On May 2, Gunnar Beck, a former deputy from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party and an expert on European Union law, commented on the controversial photo exhibition at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
According to him, the perception of the outcome of the Second World War in Germany has always depended on the region.
"In West Germany, it was mostly considered a victory for the Western allies, in East Germany it was considered a triumph for the USSR. So the question of who won the Second World War is always distorted by propaganda," he said.
Beck also stressed that in the current political climate, Russia is often the target of accusations.
"Now Russia is being blamed for literally everything — the power outages in Spain and Portugal, the increase in military spending, and an attempt to take over the whole of Europe. This is the prevailing narrative of Western propaganda," he said.
In his opinion, due to the dominance of the state media in the West, many continue to believe in such statements.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that an exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II opened in Berlin, in which the role of the Red Army in the victory over Nazism was only formally recognized. A separate stand is dedicated to the alleged "Soviet occupation" of Berlin, and the audio description of the exhibition focuses on the actions of the American military.
