Hamas declared its readiness for a five-year truce with Israel

The radical Palestinian movement Hamas is ready to conclude a five-year ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and is currently awaiting Israeli action. This was announced on May 2 by one of the leaders of the group, Abdel Rahman Shadid.
"We confirm that the resistance is ready to conclude an honorable exchange deal," Shadid told the Al Jazeera Telegram channel.
According to him, the position of Hamas presupposes the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza in exchange for the release of hostages. The parties must also conclude a five-year ceasefire agreement. Shadid added that now the movement is waiting for retaliatory steps from Israel.
Earlier, on April 17, Hamas leader Khalil al-Haya declared his readiness for immediate negotiations with the Israeli side on a cease-fire and the release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners. At the same time, he called Tel Aviv's demands for the disarmament of radicals impossible.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in turn, said on April 19 that his country would not stop the war in the Gaza Strip until it destroyed Hamas and returned all the hostages. According to him, the radical movement demands an end to the war, the preservation of its power and the restoration of Gaza with the involvement of capital, which will allow it to rearm and prepare new attacks on Israelis in the future.
On April 15, the Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah reported, citing the Gaza Ministry of Health, that more than 51,000 people had been killed in the enclave since the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict began. In addition, over 116,000 residents of the Gaza Strip were injured.
