In the draft budget for 2026, US President Donald Trump proposed to stop allocating $3.5 billion for migrant resettlement programs. The document with the proposal is published on the White House website.

"The budget proposes to abolish the asylum and services program, which allocates grants used to facilitate mass illegal migration," Trump said in an explanatory note.

It is noted that the funding allowed cities and states governed by Democrats to transport and shelter illegal migrants, undermining the rule of law and weakening the internal security of the United States.

The head of the White House also said that such measures take away resources from the country's citizens and contribute to an increase in crime and social decline.

American billionaire, founder of SpaceX Corporation Elon Musk said on April 19 that illegal migration to the United States could lead to the loss of the country's ancestral values.

On March 16, the District of Columbia Court decided to temporarily stop mass deportations of migrants from the United States based on the 1798 Alien Enemies Act until the legal validity of its application is determined, as well as to deploy all flights with deportees on board.
