73 people were detained at the May Day demonstrations in Berlin


Police detained 73 participants of the May Day demonstrations in Berlin for violations and riots. This was reported on May 2 by the newspaper Der Tagesspiegel with reference to the city Senator for internal Affairs Iris Spranger.
It is indicated that a total of 61 thousand people took part in 62 May Day events in Berlin. 5.8 thousand police officers were on duty in the city to control the rallies, of which 2.2 thousand. They were pulled from other German lands, as well as from the federal police.
Spranger noted that May Day rallies in the capital were often accompanied by throwing bottles and firecrackers, as well as unconstitutional propaganda. According to the police union, at least 12 law enforcement officers were injured during the demonstrations.

As a result of the incident, two people were injured: one had a knife wound, the other had a gunshot wound. According to preliminary data, the attackers opened fire from vehicles. After the incident, the police put the Golf and Audi cars on the wanted list.
A demonstration of thousands in Berlin on May 1 was organized by leftist and left-wing extremist movements. The main theme of the action was anti—war protests, with participants opposing Germany's involvement in military conflicts, including the situation in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.
