Summary of the special operation in Ukraine for the week

A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Russian Armed Forces carried out seven group strikes with precision weapons and attack drones, hitting armament and ammunition depots, enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, the infrastructure of military airfields, temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries, locations of electronic intelligence systems, production and storage of attack drones and unmanned boats.

Units of the North group of forces finally defeated the AFU formations in the border area of the Kursk region and liberated the Gornal settlement during an active offensive. Soldiers of the Russian army continue to work on the creation of a "security strip" in the border areas of the Sumy region of Ukraine. In addition, the Zapad group of troops decisively liberated the settlements of Kamenka and Doroshovka in the Kharkiv region and Novoye in the DPR.

"The Russian Air Force shot down a Su-27 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force. During the week, 36 JDAM guided aerial bombs and five HIMARS multiple rocket launchers manufactured in the United States were shot down by air defense systems," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

In addition, 1,306 aircraft-type drones and two S-200 anti-aircraft guided missiles converted for hitting ground targets were destroyed, and the naval aviation of the Black Sea Fleet eliminated the American high-speed cutter Willard and three unmanned boats, and another similar unmanned vessel was damaged.

According to the Russian president, conditions have now appeared for further successful actions by our troops in other sectors of the front.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 662 aircraft, 54,891 unmanned aerial vehicles, 34,874 units of special military vehicles, 23,117 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 283 helicopters, 1,554 multiple rocket launchers, 24,369 field artillery guns and mortars, and 605 anti-aircraft missile systems have been destroyed.
