The DPRK delegation flew to Vladivostok and laid flowers at the Eternal Flame of the memorial "Military Glory of the Pacific Fleet" in Vladivostok. This was reported on the website of the regional government on May 2.
The event was attended by representatives of the Mangyongde Palace of Schoolchildren and Pioneers, who arrived at the invitation of the Governor of the region Oleg Kozhemyako. The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Primorye Elena Bronnikova.
"Our peoples went through the trials of war in 1945 in the fight against fascism and militarism. Soviet troops, along with Korean patriots, liberated Korea from Japanese occupation. The victory in the Second World War was the beginning of many years of friendly relations and mutual relations between our states," Elena Bronnikova emphasized.
The head of the delegation, Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Union of Patriotic Youth of the DPRK, Kim Sung-il, noted that the fighters of the two countries fought shoulder to shoulder for the liberation of the Kursk region, and the current generation continues to maintain friendly relations.
According to Alexey Starichkov, First Deputy Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations of Primorsky Krai, guests from Pyongyang will be surrounded by attention and care during their stay.
"We are all looking forward to their brilliant performances. The main concert will take place on May 5 on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theater, in the hall where the great leader of the DPRK, Comrade Kim Jong—un, was present. We invited our talented young Primorye residents, musicians, teachers of children's art schools of the region here so that they could see the stage performances of the guys from the Mangyongde Palace of schoolchildren," said Starichkov.
On April 17, the press service of the Primorsky Krai government announced the start of work on the railway route between the region and the DPRK on May 8. It was clarified that the new route appeared on the initiative of the governor of the region Oleg Kozhemyako and with the support of Russian Railways, border guards, customs officers and representatives of the tourism industry.
The agreement on the construction of a border road bridge across the Tumannaya River was signed by the government of the Russian Federation and the DPRK during the visit of the Russian delegation to the republic on June 19, 2024. Roman Starovoit, the head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia that the document was signed as part of the agreements between the leaders of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un, reached during the DPRK leader's visit to Russia in September 2023.
