The CIA called on the Chinese to spy for the United States

On May 1, the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) posted a Chinese-language video on its social networks calling on Chinese officials to spy for Washington.
"Do you have access to any insider information regarding the top leadership of the Chinese Communist Party? Do you have any information about national security, trade, foreign affairs, or technology policy? Please contact us," the CIA representatives wrote under a video posted on the agency's official Youtube channel.
The video shows how a high-ranking Chinese official is looking for stability in a difficult situation. He "longs to take fate into his own hands" and find a way to protect his family. This forces him to make "a difficult but important decision — to contact the CIA," the representatives wrote.
"We appreciate and respect everyone who is willing to start a dialogue with us. Our professional duty is to protect those who contact us around the world," the video description says.
Representatives of the agency also attached a link through which Chinese officials can contact the CIA.
On January 15, CIA Director John Ratcliffe promised that under his leadership, American intelligence would focus on threats from China. According to Ratcliffe, the United States is facing the most difficult national security situation in history. He also promised that as director of the CIA, he would give advice to US President Donald Trump on opportunities to cooperate with Russia "when it is mutually beneficial."
