US President Donald Trump will request the allocation of a record amount for national security in the next fiscal year, which begins on October 1. This was reported by Bloomberg on May 2, citing American officials.
Presumably, the head of state intends to request $1.01 trillion, which is more than 13% higher than this year.
It is noted that the defense budget will include a 3.8% increase in military salaries, financing of the Golden Dome missile defense projects, shipbuilding, nuclear modernization and border security.
The budget will amount to about 3.2% of the gross domestic product (GDP) of the United States, the newspaper said.
On the eve of The Wall Street Journal newspaper reported that in the budget draft for fiscal year 2026, Trump will propose to reduce government programs by at least $ 163 billion. At the same time, non-defense-related programs will fall under the cuts, the publication clarified.
