The media reported a reduction in car production due to US duties of 25%

The introduction by US President Donald Trump of 25% duties on car imports will lead to a reduction in their production worldwide. This was announced on May 1 by Nikkei.
"Global car production is on track to decrease by 2% per year to 87.9 million vehicles in 2025 as a result of the Trump administration's tariffs, as a new forecast for the industry shows," the publication says.
According to the publication, car production in the European Union may decrease by 3%, in South Korea and Japan — by 2%, and in North America — by 9%.
Currently, about 16 million cars are sold annually in the United States, making this the second largest market after China. At the same time, almost half of all vehicles sold in the United States are imported products.
On April 2, Trump signed a decree imposing 25% duties on imports of passenger cars, light trucks and auto parts. These measures began to take effect on April 3 for finished cars, and for auto parts — no later than May 3. The American leader justified the imposition of duties by the need to protect "national security."
