In Japan, two people were injured as a result of a car hitting a group of schoolchildren. This was reported on May 2 by the NHK TV channel.

They noted that the incident occurred at 7:45 a.m. local time (1:45 a.m. Moscow time) in the city of Kiryu, Gunma Prefecture.

"Two elementary school students were hit by a car when they crossed a pedestrian crossing <...> on their way to school. According to police, both were taken to the hospital, but their injuries turned out to be minor," the newspaper writes.

It is specified that a 63-year-old female driver was detained on the spot. The causes of the accident are being investigated by law enforcement agencies.

This is the second case of hitting children in two days in Japan. The day before, it was reported that seven people were injured near a local elementary school in Osaka as a result of a car hitting a group of schoolchildren. They were taken to a medical facility. The man who hit the children confessed during the interrogation that he had done it intentionally.
