Moscow snowfall broke the record of 116 years ago

The snow that fell in Moscow on the night of Friday, May 2, broke the 116-year-old record for the amount of precipitation.

"The rainfall record of 116 years ago has been broken in Moscow. On May 1, in just 12 hours, an unprecedented 24 mm fell at the base of the capital's VDNKh weather station," Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to the forecaster, precipitation is about 40-45% of the monthly norm.

Earlier, on April 29, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, announced at a press conference in the Izvestia News Center that the temperature in Moscow would be below normal during the May holidays. Besides, the next three days will be windy.
