Reuters reported on the UN's plans to reorganize amid the funding crisis
The United Nations (UN) is preparing to carry out a large-scale reform amid a reduction in financial assistance from the United States and other countries. This was reported on May 2 by the Reuters news agency, citing an internal memo from the organization.
"The United Nations is considering the possibility of a large—scale reorganization that will lead to the consolidation of key departments and the reallocation of resources around the world," the publication says.
It is specified that the reform involves the unification of dozens of UN agencies into four main departments — "peace and security", "humanitarian affairs", "sustainable development" and "human rights".
On April 28, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, declared unacceptable attempts to rethink the principles of the UN Charter. On March 5, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the UN Charter a criterion of equality and justice in the world. At the same time, he clarified that few Western countries comply with the provisions of the document.
