US President Donald Trump will propose cutting government programs worth at least $163 billion. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on Thursday, May 1.
Non-defense-related programs will fall under the cuts.
According to the newspaper, in his budget draft for fiscal year 2026, Trump will propose reducing programs for environmental protection, renewable energy, education and foreign aid.
The White House plans to publish a budget proposal on Friday.
Earlier, on April 30, Trump decided to review some of the solutions proposed by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the management of billionaire Elon Musk. He explained that Musk's department has identified numerous cases of waste and fraud in federal agencies, the damage from which is estimated at billions of dollars.
