- The media reported Zelensky's repeated requests for a meeting with the Brazilian president.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has sent letters to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at least six times in a year and a half asking for a meeting. This was reported on Thursday, May 1, by the Brazilian newspaper Metrópoles.
The newspaper claims that Zelensky has sent six letters to his Brazilian counterpart since 2023, but has not received a response to any of them.
Among other things, the President of Ukraine asked Silva for an invitation to the G20 summit, which was held in Rio de Janeiro in October 2024, but this request was ignored.
The newspaper added that after Silva announced his intention to arrive in Moscow on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, the Ukrainian authorities invited him to visit Kiev before traveling to Russia, but at the moment this is not part of the Brazilian leader's plans.
Earlier, on March 29, Brazilian President Silva refused to negotiate with former Italian Prime Minister Massimo d'Alema, who arrived at Zelensky's request. It is clarified that Zelensky addressed d'Alema on the sidelines of the Balkan initiative.
