Nikolai Saknins, a relative of Hero of the Soviet Union Nikolai Kuznetsov, spoke to Izvestia on May 2 about the dismantling of the Hill of Glory memorial to Soviet soldiers and the beginning of the exhumation of the remains of Red Army soldiers.

Ukrainian media reported that the Lviv authorities intend, in connection with the relocation of the Hill of Glory memorial, to exhume and reburial the remains of soldiers who fought during the Great Patriotic War.

"It's natural for them, because it's (the Ukrainian authorities. — Ed.) our enemies. It would be pointless and unjustifiable to expect anything else from them," Nikolai Saknins said.

Our interlocutor also expressed hope for a solution to this issue after the end of the special military operation.

The beginning of the exhumation of the remains of Soviet soldiers on the "Hill of Glory" became known on May 1. Ukrainian online publication "Strana.ua" clarified that by the decision of the city council, the soldiers will be reburied at the Goloskovsky cemetery. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, in an interview with Izvestia, in turn, said that the exhumation of the remains of Soviet soldiers on the Hill of Glory in Lviv speaks to the immoral nature of the Kiev regime and its Western curators.
