Countries that buy oil and petroleum products from Iran may face sanctions from the United States. This was announced on May 1 by US President Donald Trump on his Truth Social network.

"Any country or individual who buys at least some amount of oil or petroleum products from Iran will immediately face secondary sanctions," he warned.

Trump also clarified that the countries affected by the sanctions will lose the opportunity to trade with the United States in any format.

On April 16, it was reported that Washington, shortly before the start of the second round of indirect negotiations on the nuclear dossier with Tehran, expanded the list of sanctions against Iran's allegedly shadowy Iranian navy. Thus, seven legal entities and five oil transportation vessels were added to the restrictions section, four of which operate under Panamanian flags and one under Cameroonian.

On May 1, Iran condemned the introduction of a new package of sanctions by the United States. According to the representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the US sanctions violate the basic principles and norms of international law.
