The head coach of the Italian football club Inter, Simone Inzaghi, and football player Hakan Chalhanoglu were disqualified due to contacts with fans suspected of having mafia ties. This was reported by Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday, May 1.

Inzaghi and Chalhanoglu will miss one match of the Italian championship, the newspaper reports.

According to the Milan prosecutor's office, the men are accused of contacting a representative of the ultras, Marco Ferdico, with whom they discussed the issue of distributing additional tickets for the Champions League match in 2023.

The defendants made a deal with the investigation, which mitigated their punishment, the newspaper said.

Earlier, on April 21, the matches of the Italian football championship were postponed due to the death of the Pope. In the Italian Serie A, Torino and Udinese, Cagliari and Fiorentina were to play against each other, Genoa was also to host Lazio, and Parma was to play a match against Juventus.
